Planned Parenthood speaks opinions not researched facts
On a recent CKNW radio program with Peter Warren, Greg Smith (Planned Parenthood, British Columbia), said that the very slow recent population growth in British Columbia is largely due to ''choices'' made by B.C. couples.
Certainly, one ''choice'' that young pregnant women make is to have an ELECTIVE induced abortion.
Brent Rooney, Research Director of Reduce Preterm Risk Coalition Our posed a question relating to the safety of elective abortion. "Are you or your organization able to cite one medical journal published study ever to report significantly lower TOTAL death risk for women with induced abortions in the 12 months (or longer) after the ''end of pregnancy'' compared to women who carried to term?"
Unless a valid medical journal citation can be produced, claims that elective induced abortion is ''safer'' than term delivery are an opinion based on wishful thinking, with no support from medical science. Greg Smith was unable to provide a published reference, nor can the Alan Guttmacher Institute provide such a published study, therefore Planned Parenthood of British Columbia and Mr. Smith are literally ''shooting blanks'' with regard to abortion ''safety''.
No woman or unborn child is safe unless they choose life from the moment of conception.
