Update on Harm ReductionIn the pertinent article in our last newsletter, we should have mentioned that Abbotsford City Council resolved in January of this year "that the City of Abbostford is strongly opposed to any type of harm reduction program: safe injection sites, needles exchanges, free methadone clinics, or mobile dispensing units; and requests that each local government be permitted to make decisions on drug strategies with autonomy, to reflect the views of its constituents." This resolution was forwarded to the Federation of Canadian Municipalities and the Union of BC Municipalities. Congratulations to Mayor Mary Reeves and Council! We were unaware of this information at publication date last March. |
