Cindy Silver speaking at AGM
We are delighted that Cindy Silver has agreed to be our speaker for this year’s Annual General Meeting. Ms. Silver is one of the lawyers working on the court case regarding same-sex marriage. She will bring us the latest news in this regard and inside information that we will not be able to read in any newspaper.
After being called to the Bar of BC in 93, Ms. Silver took a position as in-house Legal Counsel in the Public Policy department of Focus on the Family until 98 when she was appointed Executive Director of the Christian Legal Fellowship of Canada. In 2000, Ms. Silver began working as an independent legal consultant focusing on Charter rights and public education. She has been co-counsel for pro-family interveners including Focus and Real Women in a number of cases including Egan & Nesbit, Vriend, Surrey School Board and the marriage challenge cases in both BC and Ontario. She has written numerous articles on pro-family and religious liberty issues, including two that have been published in academic journals. In 2002, she was appointed to a position as Legal Counsel with the federal Department of Justice where she continues to work in regulatory law and
litigation. In Nov. 2002, Ms. Silver was elected for a 3-yr term as a School Trustee in the District of North Van.
Cindy Silver is married to Andy and they have three children, Josh 20 , Lea 15 and Rachel
12.
Make sure you mark your calendar to come out and hear Cindy Silver on May 30. She has worked very hard on behalf of REAL Women and other pro-family organizations and we want her to know how much we appreciate all her hard work.
