Letters do make a Difference

I recently wrote and emailed one to Moontaxi Media Inc. after seeing a billboard add which was offensive to me on a drive into Vancouver: I said, "I was driving in Vancouver today and was shocked to see the billboard with an in-appropriately dressed Nun advertising the downloadable music company Puretracks.com. As a mother of a ten year old with whom I battle to keep warmly and discreetly dressed, I was upset by the wrong messages this ad is
sending to everyone who views it. "

Please remove this ad from use immediately and contact me to explain how your company intends to make amends for this disrespect to girls, women, Nuns, the Catholic Church and all people of Christian faith. "I look forward to hearing from all parties involved. I represent a womens organization of several thousand individual members who will all be interested to see how you respond to our concerns."

The company responded: Thank you for your comments regarding one of our ads. We regret to learn of your concerns, and would like to take this opportunity to explain our intentions. The purpose of our advertising is to communicate what Puretracks is all
about: the delivery of high-quality pure digital music files to music fans. All our ads use visual imagery to express the purity of our music audio, as well as the very essence of music itself —— the individual creative spirit.

While we appreciate that our intention may not been achieved in your case, the general response to our advertising campaign has been extremely positive That said, we take your concern seriously, and would like to underscore that we regret to learn that our communication efforts did not meet with your approval.

Thank you again for sharing your perspective on this matter.

While this doesn’t sound too positive, several days later, the public relations person at the Pattison Group said that all the bill boards would be coming down by the end of that week. Keep up with writing your letters!

A new Gallup survey of teens finds 72 percent believe abortion is morally wrong. The survey of youth, aged 13 to 17, indicated just 19 percent believe abortion should be legal in all circumstances, compared to 26 percent for
adults. (WorldNetDaily.com, Nov. 24)
